International Volunteering Day 2023

Established by the United Nations, every year on December 5th, the world comes together to celebrate International Volunteers Day for economic and social development. It’s a day to recognize the selfless efforts of volunteers, and their role in shaping a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous world.

Clean Up Campaign

In line with this year’s International Volunteering Day celebration under the theme “if everyone did volunteering the world would be a better place”, CAMPEACI engaged in a host of activities amongst which was a cleanup campaign or ‘chantier de volontariat’ in collaboration with the National Volunteers Program (NVP) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC), on November 29th,2023. This task took place in a community in Yaoundé, precisely “quartier nkoldongo 8” and on this day all volunteers from several organizations worked hand in glove to help clean the community bore hole where water is being fetched so as to make it more portable for the people of the community. CAMPEACI staff present participated in the clearing and raking of grasses, picking up of plastic bags that were littered around the bore hole and their proper disposal.

This volunteering activity was graced by the presence of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mr. Mounouna Foutsou who commended all the organizations and participants in the community clean up and gave a word of encouragement to youths who are yet to embrace the spirit of volunteerism. This day was marked with networking amongst the various participants and organizations that were represented, and consolidated with a group photo with the Minister.

Trade Fair

Government Action and Youth Neglect

In continuation to the activities to commemorate the 38th edition of the International Volunteers Day, CAMPEACI equally took part in the trade fair at the Yaoundé Hotel de Ville-Cercle Municipal on Tuesday December 5th 2023. This was an occasion for CAMPEACI to present her mission and activities to other participating organizations and visitors of her stand at the fair, while also networking with the several associations and organizations present. This event which had as key deliverables (i) to present initiatives to promote regular migration and peace, (ii) Cameroon National Volunteering Awards (iii) Stand visits by the Minister and other guest was to consolidate activities prior to the International Volunteer Day.
