Governance, Preventing Corruption and Other Anti Values

Governance centers on the responsibility of government and governing bodies to meet the needs of the masses as opposed to select groups in societies. Its characteristics are participatory, consensus –oriented, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective and efficient, equitable and inclusive and follows the rules of law. Generally, good governance can be achieved through the use of democracy, combating corruption and bring corrupt actors to justice, enhance international cooperation and partnerships, denying safe haven, and recognized reforms.

What can you do?:

  • Raising Awareness - You can play a significant role in raising awareness about the negative impacts of corruption on society.
  • Advocacy and activism - Activist or organizations can advocate for transparency, they can lobby for anti-corruption policies, push for legal reforms and hold public officials accountable for their actions.
  • Promoting ethical behavior - Lead by example, by promoting ethical behaviors in your personal life, workplace and community: refusing to engage in corrupt practices.
  • Engage in anti-corruption initiatives - youth participation in anti-corruption initiatives such as integrity clubs, youth forums and anti-corruption competitions can help foster culture of integrity among young people. These initiatives provide platforms for young people to learn about corruption related issues.
  • Report - You can also report corruption acts you come across.
  • Train - You can also support transparency and education while enhancing youth capacity on ethics, integrity, good governance and anti-corruption measures through trainings.

Our Commitment :

Despite the many national, government, private and international initiatives to curb the scourges of poor governance and corruption in many African states, the aforementioned still remain a menace to sustainable growth and development. Yet, it would seem a possible way out of this shackles has been completely neglected – “the youths”. CAMPEACI believes that to effectively eradicate these cankerworms from society, the youths need to be actively involved in the purging process [not merely onlookers but active participants] given that they represent the future of the nation and constitute a reasonable percentage of the population. It’s therefore on this basis that CAMPEACI seeks to engage youths through a national ‘mindset shift’ campaign to nib anti-values and corrupt practices in the bud; and prevent spill overs to the next generation of Cameroonians.
