Peace Education
Peace education can be seen as the process of acquiring values, knowledge, attitude, skills and behaviors to live in harmony with oneself, others and the natural environment. peace education programs train individuals to resolve inter personal disputes through negotiation and mediation. the main element is anger management, improving communication through skills such as listening, turn-taking, identifying needs and separating facts from emotions. Peace education approaches has as aim to alter beliefs, attitude and behaviors from negative to positive attitude to words conflict as a basis for preventing violence. Peace education postulates that with an increase in democratic participation, societies are less likely to resolve conflict through violence and war.
Objective of Peace Education:
Peace education has as aim to;
- Appreciate the concepts of peace.
- Instilling in young people from an early age the ideals and need for Peaceful coexistence.
- Educate on Peaceful Actions
- Prepare the next generation of peace crusaders
- Develop a culture of peace.
